On Monday, May, 31, 2009, IDF soldiers attempted to board the Mavi Marmara ship in order to redirect it to the Port of Ashdod. The activists on board had planned an assault on the soldiers boarding the ship, and a battle ensued. Soldiers reported that the passengers used knives, metal rods, firebombs, and other weapons to attack the forces as soon as they boarded the ship.
Below are photos of various materials on the boat. This is photographic evidence of the weapons as well other equipment found on the Mavi Marmara including: metal rods, slingshots, knives, smoke torches, wrenches, electric saws, gas masks, and molotov cocktails.
