GOC Central Command, Major General Avi Mizrahi, stated during the ceremony: “For the past two years, the Judea and Samaria Division was blessed with Nitsan, a true commander and leader. His professionalism, humility, level-headedness and sharp thinking led the division during a challenging and complex time, and he steered it safely and without hesitation towards achieving its goals with a clear understanding of its main priorities.

You have created a far better operational scenario than that which existed prior to your appointment, and gave the Israeli home front and the Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria a sense of security.

You are true to your principles and to the policy that was determined for Judea and Samaria. You led the relations with the Israeli communities with sensitivity, yet you demonstrated determination and took no shortcuts. You received some criticism, unjustified in my opinion, about this determination and I find it appropriate to take this opportunity, as you leave this position, to denounce them, including those which were made by senior public officials, who chose to believe rumors, publicly making statements that are far from the truth. We who are close to the everyday security operations, and know your work and your statements, know there was no fault in them.

Hagai, you now take command of a large division in a very complex region. You were assigned this position as we trust your leadership and extensive experience – you will know how to lead this division in its challenging missions. We are committed to our mission to defend, and we must neutralize every terror organization that attempts to raise its head and harm our civilians. I trust you all and know that we have the ability to contain the terrorists that were released. We will not allow terror to return to our region.”

Brig. Gen. Hagai Mordechai, the newly appointed division commander, stated during the ceremony: “We must look at our reality with our eyes wide-open and understand that the people of Israel need a strong defensive force. A force that will defend with moral values, working according to the tradition of the Jewish people and the tradition and ethical code of the IDF, the ‘spirit of the IDF.’ An Israeli defense force, leaning on its love of its people, its country and mankind. A force that operates out of commitment to defend its nation. A determined, moral and professional defense force. ”

Brig. Gen. Nitsan Alon, the outgoing division commander, stated during the ceremony: “Commander of the Judea and Samaria Division is a challenging, fulfilling and difficult position to hold. It is a position intertwined with moral dilemmas. It has been my privilege to hold this position over the past two years. Understanding the reality, identifying future trends and having a forecasting outlook, with no illusions and false hopes regarding strategic developments that entail risks and threats, alongside the effort to recognize opportunities, developing new means of facing challenges and providing a relevant operational response – all this encompasses the work of the commander of the Judea and Samaria Region.”
