Explosive Devices Detonated and Mortars Fired from the Gaza Strip

Earlier today, an explosive device was detonated at an IDF force that was performing a routine activity near the security fence in the northern Gaza Strip. Shortly afterwards, a mortar shell was fired at the force and two additional mortar shells were fired into Israeli territory, landing in the Sdot Negev Regional Council. Subsequently, the force identified a number of militants in the same area and returned fire in their direction. A direct hit was confirmed.

In the past two months, over 12 explosive devices were laid along the security fence and were detonated at IDF forces. Two explosive devices were uncovered by an IDF force yesterday in the southern Gaza Strip and detonated in a controlled manner.

The terrorist organizations are constantly operating against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers. The IDF holds the Hamas terrorist organization solely responsible for maintaining the calm in the Gaza Strip and for any terrorist activity emanating from it.
