Joint IDF-ISA Operation Targets Senior Salafist Terror Organization Operative in the Gaza Strip, 17 Nov 2010

A joint IDF-ISA operation in the Northern Gaza Strip targeted a senior operative from the “Army of Islam” terror organization today, 17 November, 2010. During the targeted operation, the operative, Jabalia resident Islam Yasin (born 1975), was killed.

Islam Yasin was a senior operative in the “Army of Islam” terror organization and a close assistant to the head of the terrorist group, Mamtaz Dur’mush. Most recently, Yasin had been personally involved in directing and planning a terror attack which was to involve the kidnapping of Israelis in the Sinai Peninsula.

Yasin operated with Muhammad Jamal Fares Namnam, who was targeted on 3 November 2010, also due to his involvement in the previously noted attack. It should be emphasized that despite the targeted strike on Namnam, the cell continued operating with the intention to execute the terror attack.
